Rua day care centre

RUA (Rural Urban Aged) – RUA day care centre: Rural – Urban – Aged – Day Care Centre

This centre is of recent origin. It was started for the benefit of the local population in 1991. The poor old people of the locality gather every day at 9.00 a.m. and leave the centre at 5.00 p.m. They are given meals, snacks and drinks. It is a Home away from Home where they have the facility to take bath, wash their clothes and occupy themselves with odd jobs.

Medical help, physiotherapy, prayer sessions and physical exercises form part of their daily timetable. The Sisters of Maria Auxilium are incharge of these people. At present there are 60; soon we expect an increase in number since modern families are afraid of leaving elders alone at home.
